The artwork, from a classical standpoint, doesn't have an explicit time of its own. A painting has been made as an artifact to interact with the audience in the exhibition space. It doesn't demand a specific time, it doesn't need to be synchronized with the time of the viewer, because it is waiting the encounter with the visitor again and again. Therefore, visual art is atemporal, it doesn't unfold in time like music does. Shapes of statues seem to be petrified forever, characters in an old masterpiece are always attempting the same endless action.
However, nothing is ever permanent. Perhaps, it is just a matter of the rate of erosion. Each shape and each nuance are changing slow-motion. What might happen if we accelerate that rhythm? What about an artwork in a perpetual change, in a constant flux of shaping?
